Potato Stalk Borer
Trichobaris trinotata

The adult potato stalk borer is a small, dark weevil with pale markings that help it blend into plant stems and soil-stained vegetation. It occurs around potato fields and other habitats containing nightshade-family plants, feeding with chewing mouthparts on plant tissues. Females place eggs on suitable host plants so the newly hatched larvae can bore into the stems.
