Orange Underwing
Archiearis parthenias

The adult Orange Underwing flies by day in birch woodland, boggy heaths, and woodland edges during early spring. It is often active in sunshine and may visit flowering willow catkins for food. When disturbed, it flashes bright orange hindwings that are usually concealed beneath its mottled forewings.
