Variable Vertigo
Vertigo gouldii

Variable Vertigo inhabits moist leaf litter, moss, and soil in wooded areas, particularly where calcium-rich ground supports shell growth. It slowly grazes fungi, algae, and decaying organic material with its rasping radula. This tiny land snail can seal itself within its shell to reduce moisture loss during dry conditions.
