Mediterranean Horseshoe Bat Pup
Rhinolophus euryale (pup)

Mediterranean horseshoe bat pups are born in sheltered nursery roosts in caves, mines, and old buildings. They cling to their mother or to the roost while growing their wings and learning to navigate in darkness. Milk is their food at this stage, rather than the flying insects eaten by adults. Their distinctive noseleaf and developing calls help prepare them for echolocation.
