Lepthyphantes minutus

Common Tree-weaver

Common tree-weavers are tiny sheet-weaving spiders found in low vegetation, hedgerows, woodland edges, and gardens. They build fine horizontal webs and wait beneath or near the silk for small insects and other arthropods. Vibrations in the web reveal trapped prey, which is bitten and wrapped in silk. Young spiders can disperse by releasing silk threads and being carried by the wind, a behavior called ballooning.
