Alligator darwini
Alligator darwini

Alligator darwini was a large extinct alligator that lived in freshwater wetlands and rivers of ancient Australia. Like living alligators, it likely waited near the water's edge to ambush fish, turtles, and terrestrial animals that came to drink. Its broad jaws would have been used to seize prey and hold it underwater. Fossil remains indicate it was among the larger crocodilian predators in its ecosystem.
