Ghost Shrimp
Palaemon paludosus
Ghost shrimp inhabit slow-moving freshwater, ponds, ditches, and densely planted aquarium-like shallows. They scavenge detritus, graze algae, and pick at small invertebrates with their slender claws. The adult's translucent body helps it blend into vegetation, while rapid tail flips provide a sudden escape from danger.
