Northern Gannet Chick
Morus bassanus (chick)

Northern gannet chicks grow on exposed sea-cliff nests, guarded and fed by their parents with regurgitated fish. They are downy, nest-bound, and rely on begging calls and jabbing pecks when disturbed. As they grow, they stretch and flap their wings to build strength before fledging. A notable fact is that older chicks can become heavier than adults before they slim down for their first flight.
