Solenopsis atavinus (larva)
This soft, pale larva develops in the sheltered brood chambers of an ant nest on the forest floor. It remains largely immobile, feeding on small pieces of insects and other protein-rich food brought by adult workers. Its strong chewing mouthparts can grip and break down food despite its tiny size. Like the later stages, it is known only from fossil material.
