Christmas Beetle
Anoplognathus pallidicollis

Adult Christmas beetles are active in Australian woodland and suburban areas during the warmer months. They fly between trees and feed on foliage, especially eucalyptus leaves. Their name comes from their frequent appearance around the Christmas season, when adults may gather around lights at night.
