Brown Darkling Beetle
Adelium brevicorne

The adult brown darkling beetle is a ground-dwelling insect of forest litter, decaying timber, and sheltered ground cover. It is chiefly active in dim conditions, foraging through debris for fungi, decaying vegetation, and other organic matter. During the day it hides beneath bark, stones, or fallen wood. Its hardened wing covers protect the body from abrasion and many small predators.
