Tamias aristus
Tamias aristus

Tamias aristus is a small striped chipmunk of wooded and shrubby uplands in China, spending much of its time on the ground but readily climbing through low vegetation. It gathers seeds, nuts, fruits, and green plant material, while also taking insects when available. An alert individual dashes to an underground burrow or rocky crevice when danger approaches. Like other chipmunks, it stores food supplies for periods when forage is scarce.
