Columba melitensis Chick
Columba melitensis (chick)
The chick remains in a sheltered nest on rocky ledges or within dense cover, relying on its parents for warmth and food. It is fed regurgitated crop milk before gradually taking softened seeds and plant material. Covered in sparse yellowish down, it has a large beak and grows quickly while its flight feathers develop.
