Mouse Spider
Scotophaeus blackwalli

The mouse spider is a dark, nocturnal ground spider found beneath stones, logs, and debris, and it also commonly wanders into houses. Rather than catching prey in a web, it actively hunts small insects, woodlice, and other invertebrates across the ground. During the day it rests in a silken retreat or sheltered crack. Despite its name, Scotophaeus blackwalli is unrelated to the large Australian mouse spiders.
