Pictavia toyorana
Pictavia toyorana
Pictavia toyorana is a small butterfly associated with wooded habitats and vegetated clearings. Adults fly close to host plants and flowers, taking nectar while also seeking sheltered resting sites. Its caterpillars feed on their specific larval host plants, while adults rely on their scaled wings for quick, erratic escape flights. The patterned underside of the closed wings helps the butterfly blend into leaves and bark when perched.
