Bos bubaloides Calf
Bos bubaloides (calf)
This young bovine would have stayed close to its mother in open woodland and grassy floodplains. It fed mainly on milk at first, gradually adding tender grasses and leaves as it grew. Calves could kick, shove, and give loud distress calls when threatened, but their horns were not yet developed for serious fighting.
