Gastrocopta acuminata
Gastrocopta acuminata

Gastrocopta acuminata is a minute terrestrial snail found in leaf litter, beneath stones, and among decaying plant material in moist woodland and sheltered grassland habitats. It moves slowly over damp surfaces, grazing on biofilm, fungi, and microscopic organic matter with its rasping radula. During dry conditions it retreats into its narrow, tapered shell to conserve moisture and avoid predators. Its shell is only a few millimetres tall, making this species easy to overlook without close inspection.
