Yellowtail Tang
Zebrasoma xanthurum

Adult yellowtail tangs inhabit clear coral reefs and rocky reef slopes in the western Indian Ocean and Persian Gulf region. They spend much of the day grazing algae from reef surfaces, helping limit algal growth. A sharp, retractable spine on each side of the tail base provides an effective defense against close threats.
