Dove Chick
Microena goodwini (chick)

Dove chicks would have remained concealed in a sheltered nest beneath dense island vegetation. They were dependent on parental feeding and likely received nutrient-rich crop milk, as in living pigeons and doves. Their diet at this stage was therefore supplied by adults rather than gathered independently. This juvenile form is inferred from the life history of related ground doves, as Microena goodwini is known from subfossil remains.
