Haliaeetus piscator Chick
Haliaeetus piscator (chick)
This downy chick remains in a large stick nest near rivers, lakes, or coastal wetlands. It is fed fish and other small prey brought by its parents, tearing food with its hooked beak. Before it can fly, it defends itself with sharp pecks and small talons. Young chicks grow rapidly during their nest-bound weeks.
