Striate Mountainsnail
Oreohelix strigosa

The Striate Mountainsnail lives among rocky slopes, forest litter, and sheltered mountain valleys of the western United States. It is most active during damp weather and retreats into its shell or beneath stones when conditions become hot and dry. It grazes on decaying plant material, fungi, and surface films with its rasping radula. Its pale shell is marked by distinctive dark spiral stripes, helping it blend into stony ground and leaf litter.
