European Robin Hatchling
Erithacus rubecula (hatchling)

A European robin hatchling is a blind, mostly naked nestling kept hidden in a cup-shaped nest among shrubs, hedges, or tree roots. It depends entirely on its parents, begging loudly for small insects, spiders, and other soft invertebrates. At this stage it cannot fly and survives by staying low, still, and warm while adults remove waste from the nest. Its speckled juvenile plumage has not yet formed, and the famous orange-red breast is absent.
