Giant Panda Cub
Ailuropoda melanoleuca (cub)

Giant panda cubs are born in sheltered dens in cool mountain forests of central China, where they depend completely on their mother at first. As they grow, they become clumsy climbers and playful wrestlers, practicing bites and paw swats while staying close to cover. Milk is their first food, followed gradually by bamboo shoots and leaves as their teeth and jaws develop. A notable fact is that newborn cubs are extremely tiny compared with their mother, weighing only a small fraction of an adult panda’s mass.
