Bald Eagle Eaglet
Haliaeetus leucocephalus (eaglet)

Bald eagle eaglets grow in large stick nests built high in trees or on cliffs near lakes, rivers, and coasts. They depend on adults for fish, waterbirds, and carrion, but they already use a sharp beak and feet when competing in the nest. Their down is replaced by darker juvenile feathers as they near fledging. A notable fact is that eaglets can become nearly adult-sized before they are skilled enough to fly.
