Green Iguana Juvenile
Iguana iguana (juvenile)

Juvenile green iguanas spend much of their time in shrubs and trees near tropical rivers, basking in sunny gaps and retreating into foliage when disturbed. Their diet becomes increasingly herbivorous, centered on leaves, blossoms, and fruit. They are more confident climbers than hatchlings and use claw grips, short lunges, hissing, and tail flicks when cornered. Juveniles often retain vivid green coloring that helps them disappear among fresh leaves.
