Atlantic Sturgeon
Acipenser oxyrinchus

The adult Atlantic sturgeon is an anadromous fish, living much of its life in coastal Atlantic waters and returning to large rivers to spawn. It patrols the bottom and feeds on worms, mollusks, crustaceans, and small fishes taken by suction rather than biting. Its long body is protected by five rows of bony scutes, and its size makes it difficult for most predators to handle. One notable fact is that it can live for decades and may not mature until many years after hatching.
