Carolina Wren
Thryothorus ludovicianus

The adult Carolina Wren is a small, warm-brown songbird of thickets, woodland edges, brush piles, gardens, and wooded suburbs of the eastern and southeastern United States. It forages low in vegetation, probing bark, leaf litter, and crevices for beetles, caterpillars, spiders, and other small invertebrates, with some seeds and fruit taken in colder months. Adults are territorial and conspicuously vocal, with males giving loud repeated songs that carry surprisingly far for such a small bird. A notable fact is that pairs often remain together on a territory year-round rather than separating after the breeding season.
