Blanding's Turtle Hatchling
Emydoidea blandingii (hatchling)

A newly hatched Blanding's turtle is a tiny freshwater turtle that heads for shallow marshes, sedge pools, and quiet wetland edges with plenty of cover. It feeds on small aquatic insects, larvae, tiny crustaceans, and bits of carrion or plant matter. Hatchlings rely on hiding in vegetation and pulling into the shell rather than overpowering attackers. Their bright yellow throat is already visible, though their shell is still much softer than an adult's.
