Aedes Mosquito Larva
Aedes aegypti (larva)

This aquatic larva lives in small pools of still water, including tree holes, buckets, tires, and other rain-filled containers. It hangs near the surface to breathe through a siphon while filtering microorganisms, algae, and organic particles from the water. When disturbed, it wriggles rapidly downward with sharp body flicks. A notable feature is its dependence on very small temporary water bodies, which lets it thrive close to human settlements.
