Brahminy Kite Hatchling
Haliastur indus (hatchling)

A downy, nest-bound chick found in stick nests high in trees near coasts, rivers, wetlands, or mangroves. It depends on adults for fish, small animals, and scraps of carrion, using pecks and loud begging calls rather than true hunting. Its flight feathers are still developing, so most of its behaviour is staying warm, growing quickly, and avoiding exposure. Like other raptor chicks, it hatches helpless but already has a hooked beak suited to tearing small pieces of food.
