Green Treefrog Tadpole
Dryophytes cinereus (tadpole)

Green treefrog tadpoles live in quiet, shallow water such as ponds, marshes, ditches, and flooded pools with plenty of vegetation. They feed mostly by grazing algae, biofilm, and tiny organic particles, using quick tail beats to move through cover. As they grow, hind legs and then forelegs appear while the tail is gradually absorbed. Their small size makes them important food for fish, aquatic insects, and wading birds.
