Sulphur-crested Cockatoo Chick
Cacatua galerita (chick)
A downy nestling raised in tree hollows in open woodland, forest edges, and suburban areas where suitable nesting cavities exist. It depends on regurgitated seeds, fruit, and plant matter brought by its parents, and uses loud begging calls to demand food. Its soft body and developing feathers make it vulnerable, but its strong beak begins forming early. A chick may remain in the nest hollow for many weeks before making its first flights.
