Common Cuckoo
Cuculus canorus

The adult Common Cuckoo is a slim, long-tailed migratory bird of open woodland, moorland, reedbeds, and farmland margins across much of Eurasia and parts of Africa in winter. It feeds mainly on insects, with a special fondness for hairy caterpillars that many birds avoid. Adults are strong fliers, and females slip into other birds' nests to lay eggs that mimic the host's clutch. The male's clear two-note call is one of the most recognizable bird sounds of spring.
