Great Bustard
Otis tarda

Adult great bustards inhabit open farmland, grassland, and steppe across parts of Europe and Asia, avoiding dense cover where their size is a disadvantage. They are omnivores, eating leaves, seeds, insects, and small vertebrates when available. Males are among the heaviest living birds capable of flight and use dramatic puffed-up courtship displays with lowered wings and expanded throat feathers. Despite their bulk, adults remain wary ground birds that rely on open sightlines and powerful takeoff when threatened.
