Northern Long-eared Bat
Myotis septentrionalis

A small forest bat of eastern North America, roosting under loose bark, in tree cavities, and sometimes in caves or mines during hibernation. It hunts at night with slow, maneuverable flight, taking moths, beetles, flies, and other insects from the air or from vegetation. Its long ears help it listen for prey movement as well as use echolocation in cluttered woods. This species has declined sharply in many areas because of white-nose syndrome.
