Azure Damselfly
Coenagrion puella

A slender blue-and-black damselfly found around sunny ponds, canals, marshes, and slow rivers with plenty of vegetation. Hunts small flying insects by making short agile flights from waterside perches. Often rests with its wings folded together along the body, a key difference from many dragonflies. Males are bright azure blue with dark markings, while females are usually duller greenish or bluish.
