Green Sea Turtle Juvenile
Chelonia mydas (juvenile)

Juveniles spend years in coastal shallows, lagoons, seagrass beds, and reef edges after their early open-ocean phase. They become increasingly herbivorous, grazing on seagrasses and algae while still taking some small invertebrates. Their hardening shell and strong flippers help them avoid many smaller predators, though large fish and sharks remain threats. A notable fact is that juveniles often show strong fidelity to particular feeding areas as they grow.
