Vervet Monkey
Chlorocebus pygerythrus

Vervet monkeys live in savannas, woodland edges, riverine forests, and cultivated areas across eastern and southern Africa. They are agile primates that move between trees and the ground, feeding on fruits, seeds, flowers, leaves, insects, and occasional small animals. A notable feature is their complex alarm calling, with different calls used for different kinds of danger such as snakes, eagles, or leopards. Social awareness, quick escapes, and nimble climbing are more important to their survival than raw strength.
