Gold Swift Moth
Phymatopus hecta

The adult is a small moth of rough grassland, woodland edges, heaths, and bracken-rich places, most active around dusk. Males fly swiftly in hovering display flights, while females are less conspicuous and often remain low in vegetation. Adults live briefly and rely largely on energy gained during the caterpillar stage rather than heavy feeding. Its golden forewings and fast evening flight give the species its common name.
