Japanese Rhinoceros Beetle
Trypoxylus dichotomus

The adult is a nocturnal beetle of Japanese woodlands, orchards, and parks, often visiting tree sap flows after dark. It feeds on sap and overripe fruit rather than hunting prey. Males use their forked horn to pry, lift, and throw rivals during contests over feeding sites and mates. Despite its heavy armor, it can fly with its hind wings folded beneath hard wing covers.
