Asian Comma
Polygonia c-aureum

The Asian Comma is a small nymphalid butterfly of forest edges, parks, gardens, and riverbank vegetation across East Asia. Adults fly in sunny clearings and feed on flower nectar, tree sap, and overripe fruit, while the caterpillars use plants such as hops and nettles as hosts. Its ragged wing edges and brown underside help it resemble a dead leaf when resting. A bright comma-shaped mark on the underside of the hindwing gives this butterfly its common name.
