House Centipede
Scutigera coleoptrata

Adult house centipedes favor humid indoor corners, basements, drains, and outdoor shelters under stones or bark. They are nocturnal pursuit predators that race after flies, cockroaches, silverfish, spiders, and other small arthropods. Their long legs help them sprint, brace, and hold prey while venomous forcipules deliver a disabling jab. A notable fact is that they can shed legs when seized and later regrow them through molting.
