Orchard Ermine Larva
Yponomeuta padella (larva)

This feeding stage lives on hawthorn, blackthorn, cherry, apple, and related shrubs and trees, often under sheets of protective silk. It chews young leaves with small mandibles and shelters in webbing when disturbed. Several larvae may share the same web in nature, but each larva is a soft-bodied leaf-feeder with a thin insect cuticle. A notable trait is its ability to skeletonize foliage while remaining partly hidden beneath silk.
