Livid Soldier Beetle
Cantharis livida
The adult Soldier Beetle is a soft-winged beetle often found on flowers, grasses, and hedgerow plants in warm months. It feeds on nectar and pollen but also catches small insects with its jaws. Adults fly readily between flower heads and use their flexible wing covers to take off quickly. Like many soldier beetles, it relies more on mobility and chemical warning than on heavy armor.
