Soldier Beetle
Cantharis fusca
The adult is often found on flowers, grasses, and low shrubs in meadows, hedgerows, and woodland margins. It feeds on small insects and other soft-bodied prey, while also visiting blossoms for nectar or pollen. Its soft wing-cases and orange-black warning colors are typical of soldier beetles. Adults are capable fliers and often move between flower heads in search of food and mates.
