Oriental Turtle-Dove
Streptopelia orientalis

Oriental Turtle-Doves live in woodland edges, groves, farmland, and urban parks across much of Asia, with many northern birds migrating south in winter. They feed mostly on seeds and grains taken from the ground, sometimes adding small fruits or other plant material. Usually seen alone or in pairs during breeding season, they fly with quick wingbeats and give a soft, rolling coo from cover. A notable feature is the dark-and-white striped patch on the side of the neck, which helps distinguish adults from several similar doves.
