Engrailed
Ectropis bistortata

The adult is a mottled brown and grey moth found in woodland, hedgerows, gardens, and scrub across much of Europe. It flies mainly at night and rests by day on bark or branches, where its broken patterning gives excellent camouflage. Adults take little or no solid food, focusing on finding mates and laying eggs on suitable host plants. A notable fact is that its wing markings are highly variable, helping different individuals match different resting surfaces.
