Silver-spotted Skipper
Epargyreus clarus

The adult is a fast-flying skipper found in sunny fields, woodland edges, roadsides, and gardens where nectar flowers are available. It feeds with a long proboscis on flowers such as thistles, milkweeds, and legumes, while males patrol or perch to watch for mates. Its flight is rapid and darting, with sudden changes of direction typical of skippers. The bright silver-white patch on the underside of the hindwing is one of its most recognizable field marks.
