Lesser Short-nosed Fruit Bat
Cynopterus brachyotis
This small fruit bat lives across South and Southeast Asia in forests, orchards, gardens, plantations, and urban edges. It feeds mainly on fruit, nectar, and pollen, often carrying fruit away to a feeding perch and helping disperse seeds. Adults fly at night and use echolocation along with smell and vision to navigate among vegetation. One notable behaviour is making simple roost shelters by chewing palm or banana leaves so they fold into a tent.
