Laughing Gull
Leucophaeus atricilla

The adult Laughing Gull is a coastal seabird of beaches, salt marshes, estuaries, and harbors, especially along the Atlantic and Gulf coasts. It flies with quick, buoyant wingbeats and forages by picking food from the surface, dipping to water, or stealing scraps from other birds. Its diet includes fish, crabs, insects, eggs, carrion, and human food waste. The species is named for its loud, laughing call, a familiar sound in noisy breeding colonies.
